EDP to install 2-MWp solar array for Italian yacht builder – Renewables Now

January 11 (Renewables Now) – Portuguese utility EDP – Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) will install a 2-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) array in Italy for local yacht builder and operator Italian Sea Group (BIT:TISG).
The PV system will consist of more than 5,000 solar panels installed on Italian Sea Group’s industrial buildings in Marina di Carrara, EDP said on Monday.
EDP Energia Italia is in charge of the managing, maintenance, monitoring and construction of the solar plant, which is set to start later in the year. The power supply contract has a term of seven years.
The solar array is expected to generate 2,571 MWh per year, enough to meet 25% of the buildings’ electricity needs. In addition to the PV park, EDP will also install six chargers for electric vehicles at the site.
At present, EDP Energia Italia has over 600 contracts for energy supply and solar solutions, which represents more than 30,000 MW of solar capacity sold, it noted.
