Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals fans have come together to slam NBC for misidentifying Mickey Guyton as Jhené Aiko at the Super Bowl LVI on Sunday.
Ahead of the 38-year-old rising country star’s performance of the national anthem, the network erroneously labeled her Aiko, 33, on the jumbotron.
At the time of the mix-up, both women were standing on the field of Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles as the Sativa singer belted America the Beautiful.

Immediately, NBC Sports released an apology on Twitter, which read: ‘We incorrectly showed Mickey Guyton and misidentified her before showing Aiko’s performance. We apologize to both artists for the error.’
The glaring error immediately prompted viewers to vent their frustration on social media.
‘There is nothing more American than the NFL getting a lineup of all women of color to sing before the game just for the cameraman to not even bother to learn the difference between Jhene Aiko and Mickey Guyton,’ one Twitter user fired.

Another simply pointed out the mistake by writing: ‘They introduced my girl Jhene Aiko and had the camera on Mickey Guyton.’
Many viewers went on to describe the oversight as ’embarrassing’ and a disappointment as the musicians could not have been dressed more differently.
While Guyton opted to wear a long sleeve blue gown, Aiko shined in a black sequined gown with a daring thigh-high slit.

Still, some social media users chose to focus on the positive.
‘America, if you watched those two beautiful woman who opened this Super Bowl, Jhene’ Aiko and Mickey Guyton, and you were like me, they knocked it out of the park,’ Ronnie Ray Jenkins tweeted.
He continued: ‘I swelled with pride and black is beautiful. Be proud, America and be thankful for those two blessings.’

Neither performer has commented on NBC’s error or publicly responded to their apology.
Last month, the Los Angeles Rams’ jumbotron left viewers perplexed by mistaking Aiko as Freddie Prinze Jr and her boyfriend Big Sean for Sarah Michelle Gellar.
At the time, the Cruel Intentions star, 44, shared a screenshot of the humorous mistake on her Instagram.

Making the oversight even more comical, the mother-of-two was not even attending the game with her longtime spouse, who she married in 2002.
On her Instagram Stories, the Golden Globe nominee showed that she was watching the NFC championship game at SoFi Stadium with her pal Elsa Collins.
